The run of great weddings continued today at the Catamarran for Emily & Kevin’s wedding.  We have done several midweek weddings and they have all been great.  Tonight was no exception.  We did things a little differently tonight as we did the cake before toasts and then had 3 hours straight of dancing, and we had a great dance floor the whole time.

I had my lights and dance lights so the room looked awesome.  We had Carrie McCluskey (http://www.mccluskeyphotography.com/) there with her husband Todd which is always a pleasure.

I thought yesterdays wedding was good, tonight’s was equally great !!  Julie and I were at Orfila Vineyard for Mike & Jennifer’s wedding.  it didn’t start off very well as I locked my keys in the van when I parked, good job I always arrive early !!  Julie arrived shortly after and all was good.

Adina (www.simplyadina.com) did flowers today and as ever they were awesome

I had a lot of set up today, Ceremony, Up Lights, Dance Lights and full reception set up, but it looked great.  Mike and Jennifer were awesome, I say it about every 5 weddings, but we are so lucky to have so many great clients !!

As with last night, we had a packed dance floor all night, I didn’t want it to end, but at least the guests left with a smile on their faces after I played the Dan Band :-)

Little did I know I was in for a crazy 3 weddings (in a good way) starting with tonight at the Oceanview cor Cara & Caleb.  I knew it was going to be a good night when I was able to use wireless microphones for the ceremony (the frequencies are usually terrible there) and it turned out that way

We had Chana & Don Photography taking pictures and it was just a perfect evening.  I played a lot of country tonight (they met at Incahoots ) and people loved it.  A rare sight in San Diego for me.  it took me back to my days of DJ’ing in Tampa !!

The dance floor was packed all night, just an amazing night !!

The day before Comicon and I was at the Admiral Kidd Club for Elizabeth & Brandon’s wedding.  They actually met at Comicon and there was definitely a theme to today.  I think I played 7 songs by John Williams (who did the score for Star Wars)

The weather didn’t start out too well today, with rain early on, but it turned out to be beautiful.  Unfortunately I forgot my camera, so I don’t have any pictures, but I am sure you can imagine what it looked like at the end when I played ‘Nellie The Elephant’ by the Toy Dolls.  My absolute favourite song to play at a wedding !!

A busy weekend came to an end today and I had Julie with me for Eric & Kristens wedding at the Sheraton Harbor Island, our favourite site in all of San Diego !!

Today was awesome, we had a great crowd, a packed dance floor all night and the time just flew by.  To make it even better we had Carrie McCluskey http://www.mccluskeyphotography.com/ ably assisted by her husband Todd taking pictures, and also Jerry from Cloudbreak video http://www.cloudbreakfilms.com/ who are two of my favourite vendors to work with also !!!

I think I played more grateful dead songs tonight than I have played in my entire career as a DJ, but it made a nice change for me, and they went over really well.

Saturday July 17th 2010 Paradise Point Elite British DJ San Diego Wedding DJ

A small intimate wedding at Paradise Point tonight for Chris & Tracy.  It was great to see Paul Frye   http://members.cox.net/pafrye/wedding/ there to officiate and Tony Eisenhower  http://www.tonypix.com/ there to take pictures.  Suffice to say we were in good hands !!

We also did a great first dance tonight, we started with ‘Wonderful Tonight’ by Eric Clapton, I stepped away from my system and the Best Man walked behind it.  About 1 minute in, I had plugged in a record scratch and then the song went into ‘you Never Can Tell’ by Chuck Berry.  Not before half the guests started screaming at the best man :-)   Priceless !!

We had a good dancing crowd tonight for what was a long wedding with a relatively small amount of guests, quality over quantity !!!

Tonight I was at the Grand Tradition in Fallbrook for Alexis & Franks wedding.  I have to say the site does a great job in setting up the room and running the event, you really don’t need a co-ordinator there (and I very rarely say that !!).

Alexis and Frank came in (as did a lot of their guests) from Holland so the was a definite European feel tonight. and the music reflected that.  We had a great time tonight, everything ran really smoothly and a good time was had by all, I learned a lot of good new music tonight as well :-)

Saturday July 10th 2010 Fairbanks Room Sheraton Harbor Island Elite British DJ San Diego Wedding DJ

What a day tonight was !!    Julie and I were at the Sheraton Harbour Island tonight for Sam & Cecily’s wedding.  I don’t know what it is about the 10th of the month and the Fairbanks room, but we get the best dancing groups there (we had the same on April 10th).  I had my uplights tonight and the room looked awesome, The staff at the Sheraton are amazing and they really know how to treat the vendors so all around it was a great night !!

From start to finish tonight was great.  For their first dance we started with ‘Yellow’ by Coldplay and after  a minute or so we went into ‘I Gotta Feeling’ by Black Eyed Peas.  Almost all of the guests came up to the dance floor and joined in !!!  We got the dance floor going during dinner and then when it came to dancing, it was a full dance floor all night.  Just amazing, and I got to finish with my Dan Band :-)

It was a young crowd so we played a lot more ‘younger crowd’ music than normal, I even got to play my new favourite song ‘Maldito Alcohol’ by Pitbull and they all loved it !!!

Sunday July 4th 2010 Grande Room, Estancia Elite British DJ San Diego Wedding DJ

After a rare saturday off spent watching the padres win (again!!) I was glad to be back at work tonight (although I don’t consider what I do work as I love what I do!!) and back at the Estancia for the first time in a while for Bo & Carley’s wedding.

Ironic that Carley is English and so was the DJ on July 4th ……….

We had a very busy schedule tonight, but I felt like it was perfect for the evening.  A couple of highlights were Carley’s dad’s toast which incorporated a powerpoint presentation.  Carley’s dad is South African, indeed we had many guests in from overseas, and he made a very entertaining toast that he had obviously put a lot of work into.

We also privileged to have their friend, Susan Graham there and she sang a couple of songs, backed by some other friends.  Susan is a Mezzo Soprano who has sung at the New York Philharmonic and she was amazing.  The only bad thing was I had to follow her !!!

A great night, the room looked great ( as it always does at the Estancia) I had my dance and up Lights going and I had a blast tonight :-)

There were a lot of military personnel there tonight, which always brings back memories of my 6 years in the British Navy!!  As with yesterday it was a beautiful day today and a perfect one for a wedding.  As I always do, I had a blast tonight, I got to play ‘you’ve lost that lovin feelin’ as you will see from one of the pictures below.  The grooms cake was great as well.

We played a good variety of music tonight as there werepeople of all ages and whether they were inside or out on the patio everyone seemed to enjoy it, another successful wedding :-)
